Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi and is generally due to a virus.
The Symptoms are : It starts with an inflammation in the mucous membrane of the nose, then it spreads to the throat and later to the lungs. Therefore, it is better to stop the problem when it starts in the nose.
Frequently there is a cough, accompanied by a hoarseness in the voice and sometimes phlegm. If the cough persists over several months, it can become chronic and turn into : Pneumonia, Pulmonary Emphysema.
The causes are : contact with a contagious person or with saliva, or breathing air contaminated with the virus.

If a person is prone to persistant cough which doesn't subside despite medication, he can try out these home remedies :
1. Take 2 teaspoons of ground and powdered black pepper.
2. Take 2 tablespoons of sugar.
3. Take 1 cup of water. Put the sugar and pepper in the water and boil it till the quantity is reduced to half a cup.
If this mixture is consumed regularly for seven days, the cough will diappear.
