Bruxism is the habit of grinding or rubbing the upper and lower teeth together. This usually happens at night when asleep.

Symptoms :

• Grinding of teeth at night.
• Pain in the jaws.
• Wearing away of the joint between the jawbone and cranium, eventually making it painful to move the jaw.
• In addition to making it difficult to open your mouth, it can cause arthritis in the joints connected to the cranium.
• Headaches
• Wearing away of the teethuntil there is little left leaving the nerve exposed.

Causes : The principal causes are :

• Stress and anxiety.
• Misalignment between the upper and lower teeth.
• Some doctors have said that it could be caused by problems like oxyuriasis (parasites)
