Special Plan to boost Medical Tourism

The tourism ministry is finalising a scheme wherein a tourist visiting India for a particular medical treatment will be offered an additional treatment free of cost for a smaller ailment. The scheme will be part of the schemes implemented by the government to increase foreign tourist arrivals in the backdrop of the global slowdown, a senior official in the tourism ministry said.

Andhra Pradesh, Delhi top tourist destinations in India

For the third year in a row, Andhra Pradesh with its pilgrim spots remains a hit with domestic tourists while Delhi continues to enjoy the tag of the Indian city most visited by foreigners.

Besides Delhi, foreigners favoured Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. These were the states that were most visited by tourists in 2007 too.

Govt to sell 2009 as ‘visit India’ year

Indian carriers can use London for onward flights

New Delhi:The British government given a blanket approval for all Indian carriers to use London as a hub for mounting onward flights to US,Canada,Latin America and even the exotic locales of the Caribbean.The carriers - including Indian Airlines,Jet Airways and Air Sahara - can start operating flights on these routes beginning this winter.
