Bhuaneshwar : Thousands of endangered Olive Ridley turtles have crawled ashore to a nesting site in Orissa's Rushikulya beach.The mass nesting began late Thursday at Rushikulya in the coastal district of Ganjam, one of the three turtles nesting sites in the state.

Gahirmatha is considered the world's largest nesting site with an estimated 800,000 turtles reportedly coming there every winter.In 2005,the forest department estimated that 90,000 turtles nested at the site.
