For those who swear by Chinese cuisine, here is a reason to celebrate. Fortune Hotel Centre Point will organise Chinese August Moon Festival from Friday.

The festival is observed on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month to celebrate the end of the harvest season with a grand feast. The Chinese believe that the moon is brightest on this day, which makes it an ideal time to celebrate the summer’s harvest.

“Chinese is one of the preferred cuisines in town and India. People in the city like to dig into Chinese delicacies and this festival will give them that chance,” said master chef Ashish Bose.

On menu will be finger-licking recipes like roasted duck served with a sauce of choice, chilly crab, chilly oyster pomfret, and prawn and broccoli in X-O sauce to tinge the taste buds.

To bring out the Chinese taste, chefs have made use of combination of five spices — fennel, star anise (a kind of Chinese herb), cinnamon, clove and schezwan seeds.

For those with a sweet tooth, date pan cake, toffee walnut (caramelised crunchy walnut served with ice cream) and special August moon cake served with ice-cream are some to crave for.

Vegetarians should not give sizzling tofu, which is braised bean curd with vegetable tossed with chilly wine sauce, served with garlic butter fried rice amiss.
