Car lovers, rejoice! A Sunday, on the contrary, it’s going to be a visual delight for those with a passion for sports cars and speed demons. Yes, feast your eyes on Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls Royces, Porsches, Lotuses, Masserattis, Bentleys, and BMWs at India’s first-ever Super Car show which took place in Mumbai . These speedsters was on display at Kala Ghoda from 10 am, after which the owners paraded them around parts of the city – from Regal cinema to Marine Drive up Walkeshwar and down Napeansea Road through Haji Ali to Siddhivinayak temple and back to Kala Ghoda via Peddar Road.

“The idea behind the show was to let all Super Car owners who share a common passion spend a day together with their cars. We take our cars out on Sundays anyways, this way, with all of them being together at one spot, other car lovers can enjoy them as well. It was a lot of fun and a real spectacle,” ssaid avid car lover Gautam Singhania, who helped put the show together and had displayed his Ferrari 348, Lotus Elise, Lamborghini and Ariel Atom. Adar Poonawala, who was there with his Ferrari 430, Phantom and Masseratti was excited about this new concept and saw it as a platform for like-minded people with a passion for cars to host more such events. “This is a good chance for sports car fanatics to get together. It can be a forum for races and rallies in the future,” says Adar. Or, as Singhania adds, the formation of India’s first Super Car Club.

 

Jerxis Vandrevala, whose Rolls Royce Phantom was a part of the parade, and takes pride in his passion, although he admits that it takes a lot of care to maintain these cars. So much so that he flew down a mechanic from London for the occasion! He was excited at seeing all the top cars of Mumbai assembled together. Pervez Damania, who also takes part in the annual Vintage car rally, was there with his Merc SLK. “Men and cars go hand-in-hand, be they vintage cars or sports cars.” says Pervez.

 

Other participants who were part of the thrill ride included Dr Feroze Soonawala with his Porsche Cayman, Yohan Poonawala with his Bentley Flying Spur and Lamborghini Gallardo, Sunny Dewan with his Phantom, Dinesh Lal with his Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and Sharad Kachalia with his BMW X6. So get those engines revved up, that torque in action and those tyres burning coz many Sundays this year are gonna be a day of thrills, speed and overdrive!
